Build Your Credit with Confidence
Looking to raise your credit score? Our Credit Builder Program gives you the tools and support to make it happen.
Our Credit Builder Program is free and designed to help you build or improve your credit with a SMART Loan, a secured credit card, and one-on-one guidance from our Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors—so you can move forward with confidence.
You’ll start with a $2,000 SMART Loan and a secured credit card with a $500–$1,000 limit, giving you the tools to begin building your credit right away.
Throughout the 12-month program, you’ll complete at least three financial counseling sessions and make on-time payments on your Firelands FCU loan—helping you stay on track and build confidence as your credit improves.
Upon successful completion of the program, Firelands FCU will apply $100 credit towards the final month’s SMART Loan payment and will convert the Visa Platinum Secured with Rewards credit card to a Visa Platinum with Rewards credit card.
Successful completion of the Credit Builder Program is defined by meeting all the following criteria:
- Completing at least 3 financial counseling sessions over the 12-month program
- Making on-time payments to your Firelands FCU loans originated as part of this program for the 12 months following loan origination
- You’ll need at least two months of paystubs showing direct deposit at any financial institution
- You can’t have or apply for a SMART loan while participating in this program
- This program is available to everyone—no membership required
